September 2026 Reading Log
17. Vang Bóng Một Thời - Nguyễn Tuân
Usually, I will rate 5/5 no cap for this author. But it seems the idol filter is lost… or I am more sane in this story to have a wiser review, god knows.
The stories in this book of him has a randomness that if you don’t have a sense of old soul, it will be confusing. And as a person believes in my hopeless romantic soul, it’s sad and sentimental for myself. Will I appreciate the similar literature if the author isn’t Nguyễn?
God knows. And God blesses me.
18. Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
The world building of this book isn’t astonishing like the first times I have read it.
And I have to say that, English ver is far too much better than Vietnamese ver. The rhythm, the pace of words are the things that translation is too hard to deliver.
The main character’s name is Montag, it means Monday in German. Is this a concidence or a story-telling hint by the author?
And the Captain, I feel his helplessness that he has no choice but choose to side with the evil. He is not brave enough to fight back?
A sophisticated character, I enjoy reading about him even more than Guy Montag.
I wonder if I ever want to re-read it again.?
19. Người tình - Marguerite Duras
It reminds me of No Longer Human but more sympathicable. A good read with the melancholy. I enjoy her writing skill but the story is mediocre. Both main characters are just problematic. While the female main character is more understable (of course, it is the story in her POV), the male main character is just coward and disappointing. A messy, disheveled storyline ![]()
20. Giữa lòng tăm tối - Joseph Conrad
I quite don’t get this work too clearly. It’s pretty vague, but I can feel the blurry line of morality. What can I expect more from the age of colonies?
Power eats humanity raw. I don’t think this book got into my mind, just like a fog that I passed through.
21. Hoàng tử bé - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
The book that I re-read every year. This year I feel kind of melancholy, not so happy happy like before.
It is also shorter than I remember, I don’t know what happened and I wonder if I want to re-read it again next year.
22. Điều kỳ diệu của tiệm tạp hóa Namiya - Higashino Keigo
A wholesome book, I recommend you to read this one if you didn’t know it yet.
Each stories in this book linked together, makes a network. There is no perfect human in this book, human is like that, we aren’t perfect, but we strive to be better
