May 2026 Reading Log

I am quite satisfied with 2 books I finished this month. Let’s dig deeper!

9. Người ăn chay - Han Kang

It’s a wonderful read, and the emotional turmoil is still kind of in me after finishing it.

The characters are drawn in a very specific way—both stereotypical and sophisticated at the same time. Childhood trauma, society’s expectations, dysfunctional family dynamics… all of that makes this book feel disturbing in a quiet way, but also very compelling.

I recommend it if you want a deep emotional journey that lingers.

10. Hiệu sách cuối cùng ở London - Madeline Martin

It’s a good read. Probably would hit differently if I were British, honestly.

The love story is sweet, simple, no unnecessary drama—just this quiet sense of hope around books in the middle of war.

Sometimes it feels a bit ironic though, like the background tension is “colonialism vs fascism.” Neither side feels clean, which is kind of interesting in a weird way :)
